PUPPY PREP TRAINING 101

8 to 9 weeks up to 4 months

Preparing for your new puppy’s arrival is so important. If you have the opportunity to prepare ahead of time, you won’t want to miss out on our Puppy Prep 101! A professional, certified trainer will come to your home and assist in preparing you, your family and your home for your new puppy’s arrival. We will cover many of the important things you’ll need to know before and after your new puppy arrives at your home. Here are a few of the basics we will cover:

    1. How to Select the Best Puppy in the Litter
    2. Feeding Your Puppy
    3. House Training Your Puppy
    4. Home Alone Training
    5. Kennel/Crate Training
    6. Socializing Your Puppy with Adult Dogs and Other Puppies
    7. Puppy Proofing Your Home and Outdoor Area
    8. Challenging Behaviors; i.e. chewing, barking, nipping, digging, whining/crying and much, much more!

At 8 weeks it's all about setting up a daily routine for your puppy and beginning the process of socialization and exposure to sights, sounds, places and objects.

Remember when you make the decision to get a new puppy, be sure to figure in the time and cost of basic obedience training. I guarantee you it’s the most important investment you will ever make and never regret! Basic obedience training begins at 4 months; see Puppy Basic Obedience 102.

Early socialization, training and leadership will create a well-balanced and enjoyable companion for you and your family!
